There are lots of ways to get involved with the garden. Firstly, please come and visit us! The garden is always open and there are lots of lovely spots to have a seat, eat some lunch or meet with friends. We have herbal beds, sensory areas, orchard, polytunnel, wildlife area, fruit and vegetables – all surrounded by the beautiful arboretum. If you have never been before, we are just a short walk from Maggie’s – standing with your back to Maggie’s, you can just see the garden over to the right behind the trees.
Tuesday 9am-12pm (weekly)
Thursday 1-3pm (weekly)
Friday 10.30am-2pm (weekly)
NEW! Mondays 1-3pm (weekly from 3rd April – June 5th 2017)
Saturday 10am-3pm (monthy – last Saturday in month from March 25th)
Sunday 10am-1pm (monthly – first Sunday of month from March 5th)
Each session involves seasonal gardening tasks (weeding, sowing, planting, taking cuttings, developing garden areas, planting hedges, compost making, veg and flower growing etc.) No experience is necessary, all sessions are very informal – just dress appropriately (sturdy footwear and anorak) – we’ll provide the tea and biscuits!
We can reimburse travel expenses, so please let us know if this would be useful to you.
We work with a number of organisations including the NHS, DAMH and Employment Support to run regular volunteer sessions and one-off workshops. If you have a group that would like to visit the garden and/or take part in some garden activities, please get in touch.
